Most bathroom heaters are kind of a joke. They spend ten minutes trying to warm up the air, but the second you open the door or a draft hits, all that warmth just vanishes. We do things differently. Instead of fighting the air, we use shortwave infrared. Think of it like the sun. You don’t feel the air around you getting hot when you step outside on a winter day—you feel the sun’s rays hitting your skin directly. That’s exactly how these heaters work. The secret behind the heat
Inside the unit, we’ve got high-wattage quartz elements tucked behind mirror glass. Because these get incredibly hot, they push out shortwave radiation. Here is the cool part: shortwave heat doesn’t care about drafts. If you’re in a breezy changing area, a normal heater is useless because the warm air just blows away. But infrared? It travels in a straight line. It hits you, it stays with you, and it keeps you warm regardless of the wind.
What’s under the hood?
We use a tungsten filament wrapped in a super-pure quartz tube. To make sure none of that heat is wasted, we coat the back of the reflector in gold or aluminum. It basically acts like a mirror for heat, bouncing about 95% of the energy straight forward toward you. This does two things: it keeps the back of the unit from getting too hot, and it makes sure you feel the heat exactly where you need it. One quick heads-up for the install: make sure your wiring is up to the task. These elements pull a lot of power the moment they kick on, so your circuits need to be ready for that initial surge.
A few things to keep in mind
These are built to slide right into standard bathroom mirror kits, giving you a ton of heat without taking up any real space. But, because the heat is so concentrated, placement is everything. You don’t want to mount them too close to where you stand, or it’ll feel a bit too intense. It’s all about finding that sweet spot where it feels cozy, not scorching. Also, do yourself a favor and use a timer or a thermostat. It keeps the filament from running until it burns out, meaning your heater will actually last.
