Most people put a heater in the bathroom for one reason: they don’t want to freeze when they step out of the shower. But there’s a better way to look at it. If you use an IP65-rated infrared lamp, you aren’t just fighting the chill. You’re actually fighting the moisture.
The trick to drying out your walls
Here is how it works. Regular heaters just warm up the air. Infrared is different. It goes straight for the surfaces. These lamps use specific light waves that soak into your walls and ceilings. By warming up the actual materials—the tiles, the grout, the paint—you stop water vapor from turning into those annoying little droplets. Think about it. Mold loves a cold, damp spot. If the wall stays warm, the condensation cycle just… stops. It basically pushes the moisture out of the porous parts of your bathroom, acting like a hidden dehumidifier.
The gear that keeps it safe
We all know water and electricity are a bad mix. That’s why the IP65 rating matters. It’s a fancy way of saying the housing is sealed tight. The inside stays bone-dry even when the outside is getting hammered by steam or the occasional splash. This keeps the electrical parts from rusting or shorting out, so your bulbs don’t burn out every few months. We also use high-density quartz glass. It’s clear enough that the heat passes right through it and hits your walls, rather than getting trapped inside the lamp housing.
A few things to watch out for
It’s not all magic, though. There are some trade-offs. Infrared is fast. Really fast. But because it creates such intense, focused heat, you have to be careful where you point it. If you mount a high-wattage lamp too close to a plastic soap dispenser or some cheap PVC piping, you might actually warp the plastic. Just make sure you leave enough breathing room between the lamp and your fixtures based on the wattage. A little bit of planning goes a long way.
